I. Institution Overview
Changchun Machinery Research Institute of the Ministry of Water Resources (abbreviated as "Changchun Institute") is located in Changchun, the "Spring City of Northern China", adjacent to Nanhu Lake in the east and the Automobile City in the west. Founded in 1980, it is a public institution directly under the Ministry of Water Resources and the only professional research and design unit in China focusing on the development and research of specialized construction machinery for water conservancy.
After more than 30 years of development, Changchun Institute has evolved into an integrated technical service organization integrating multiple businesses, including:

June 1980
Approved by the Department of the Ministry of Water Resources ([80] Shui Zao Zi No. 10), Changchun Machinery Research Institute of the Ministry of Water Resources was established as a county-level unit.
1991

• April: The SLWY-60 amphibious hydraulic excavator won the Science and Technology Award of the Ministry of Water Resources.

• September: Established the "Quality Inspection and Testing Center for Specialized Water Conservancy Construction Machinery of the Ministry of Water Resources".
May 1998
Approved by the Department of the Ministry of Water Resources (Ren Zu [1998] No. 13), the Quality Inspection and Testing Center for Specialized Water Conservancy Construction Machinery of the Ministry of Water Resources was attached to the Water Conservancy Product Quality and Standard Research Institute of the Ministry of Water Resources.
2000

• January: The "QYD-40 bucket wheel dredger" won the Third Prize of Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.

2003
Obtained multiple national utility model patents, including the "float-type crawler with sealed and lubricated track chassis".
June 2004
Obtained Grade-B qualification for water conservancy project equipment manufacturing supervision.

• March: The STWD-80 Multi-Functional Dredger passed the new product identification of the Ministry of Water Resources.

• April: The CCWSL-80 Amphibious Excavator passed the new product identification.

2007

• Won the bid for equipment supervision of the Xinjiang Lop Nur Potassium Salt Project.

• October: The CY100 automatic salt harvester filled the domestic gap in this field.
November 2008
The CCWSL-80 amphibious excavator won the "Water Conservancy Innovation Product Award" at the 1st Water Conservancy New Product Application Achievement Exchange and Exhibition of the Ministry of Water Resources.
2009

• January: The STWD-80 multi-functional dredger was awarded the "Water Conservancy Practical Advanced Technology Promotion Product" by the Ministry of Water Resources.

• March: The national agricultural science and technology achievement transformation project Farmland Water Conservancy Dredger undertaken by the institute passed the acceptance inspection.

• June: Obtained the design approval certificate for medium-sized fixed winch hoists and medium-sized mobile hoists issued by the General Station of Water Conservancy Product Quality Supervision of the Ministry of Water Resources.

• September: The key scientific and technological achievement promotion project of the Ministry of Water Resources CCWSL-80 Amphibious Excavator passed the acceptance inspection.

• November: The "amphibious excavator" won the "2000-2009 China Water Conservancy and Hydropower Machinery Product Innovation Award" at the 2nd Water Conservancy and Hydropower Machinery Enterprise Forum hosted by the Comprehensive Service Bureau of the Ministry of Water Resources.
July 2010
Obtained the design approval certificate for large-sized fixed winch hoists and large-sized mobile hoists issued by the General Station of Water Conservancy Product Quality Supervision of the Ministry of Water Resources.
July 2012
Led the scientific research work of the "Key Project" of pneumatic shield gates under the "948 Program" of the Ministry of Water Resources.

• Initially established the mechanical model of pneumatic shield gates and provided calculation formulas for the shape of airbags and partial forces in the system.

• Approved by the Comprehensive Service Bureau of the Ministry of Water Resources, the "Water Conservancy Product Quality Testing Center of the Comprehensive Service Bureau of the Ministry of Water Resources" was established and officially unveiled.
June 2015
Solved the detailed calculation method for stress analysis of pneumatic shield gates and provided a calculation and solution method for key parameters of pneumatic shield gates.
August 2016
Cooperated with the Science and Technology Promotion Center of the Ministry of Water Resources to issue scientific and technological evaluation opinions on domestic pneumatic shield gates.
October 2017
Participated in the compilation of Specifications for Manufacturing, Installation and Acceptance of Pneumatic Shield Gate Systems.
March 2018
The Weihe River Pneumatic Gate Project supported by the institute's technology won the Third Prize of Kunlun Science and Technology Award of the Comprehensive Service Bureau of the Ministry of Water Resources.

Participated in the compilation of Specifications for Manufacturing, Installation and Acceptance of Hydraulic Gate Systems.
May 2022
Based on years of operation cases of pneumatic shield gates, proposed upgraded and improved technical solutions for air tightness, safety, anchorage structure type and anchorage force of high and long-span dams. Through systematic verification, derivation, calculation and finite element analysis, the institute launched the new-generation pneumatic shield gate with high air tightness, strong safety and stable structure for the first time.
Changchun Institute has always maintained a leading position in the industry and made important contributions to technological innovation and industrial development in the fields of specialized water conservancy construction machinery and pneumatic shield gates.
