In early July, Yitong County was hit by continuous heavy rainfall, putting the entire county under severe flood control challenges. During this critical period, the air-shield dam we built for Yitong County played a vital role in drainage and water storage, ensuring the safety of towns and villages along the line, and became a solid defense for protecting the lives and property of local people. Continuous heavy rainfall caused the water levels of many rivers in Yitong County to rise rapidly, with the risk of waterlogging in some areas. The air-shield dam we built adopts a structure of steel shield plates + rubber airbags. With the advantage of quickly adjusting the dam height through inflation and deflation, its flood discharge capacity is far superior to that of traditional gates. During this heavy rainfall, these air-shield dams only took 20-40 minutes to collapse and discharge floods, which greatly improved the flood discharge efficiency and effectively avoided the threat of a sudden rise in upstream water levels to coastal residential areas. At the same time, the modular design of the air-shield dam demonstrated strong adaptability. It could still operate stably even when the flood carried a large amount of floating objects and sediment, without silting or blockage, ensuring the smooth flow of the river. In mid-July, when the precipitation in the county stopped, these air-shield dams immediately started the work of raising the dam to store water, making reserves for subsequent farmland irrigation and water use for production and daily life. The air-shield dam and the gates in the region form a linkage mechanism, which adjusts the flood discharge strategy in real time through an intelligent monitoring system and works collaboratively. This not only meets the water storage needs but also effectively prevents waterlogging, fully demonstrating the intelligence and efficiency of modern water conservancy facilities. In addition, its oil-free and low-energy operation mode meets the requirements of ecological environmental protection, providing a strong demonstration for the construction of green water conservancy in the local basin. It also shows that the water conservancy project we built for Yitong County has stood the test in actual combat and effectively protected the safety of the region.
