Compared with traditional rubber dams, the inflatable steel shield structure of Shield Rubber Dams features excellent puncture resistance and effectively prevents dam damage caused by punctures from river debris. Its superior protective performance stems from a multi-layer structural design characterized by "rigid-flex integration and layered protection", with three core reasons as follows:
The Shield Rubber Dam is equipped with an integrated high-strength steel shield plate on the outer layer, which acts as a sturdy metal armor and fully encloses the internal airbag. Sharp debris commonly found in river channels, such as gravel, steel bars, broken glass and dead branches, will be directly blocked and resisted by the hard steel plate when impacting the dam with water flow. This fundamentally prevents sharp objects from contacting and puncturing the core airbag structure.
The core inflatable airbag of the Shield Rubber Dam is fixed and hidden inside the steel shield plate, avoiding direct contact with river water at all times. Even when the dam is lowered for water discharge, the airbag remains shielded by the steel plate and is not exposed to the complex water environment. In contrast, the bag of traditional rubber dams is fully exposed. It is prone to damage, punctures and aging due to long-term friction and impact from ice floes, branches and sand and gravel.
Adopting a composite structure of "steel shield outer shell and airbag inner liner", the Shield Rubber Dam combines high hardness and good toughness. When water flow and debris strike the steel shield plate and generate impact force, the airbag filled with compressed air inside acts as an air cushion. It quickly disperses, absorbs and eliminates concentrated single-point impact force, avoiding localized extrusion and compression on the dam structure. This greatly reduces the risks of steel plate deformation, airbag damage and partial puncture.
With a three-dimensional protection system of external steel plate protection, middle-layer shielding and isolation, and inner flexible buffering, the Shield Rubber Dam perfectly overcomes the structural shortcomings of traditional rubber dams. It significantly enhances the dam’s puncture resistance and service life, making it adaptable to various complex river conditions.
